Arsenal back in for Alvarez

So new reports tell us that Arsenal, are ‘back in’ negotiations with Velez midfielder Ricky Alvarez, says the Daily Mail. This comes almost a month after the ever-reliable Goal.com claimed we had signed the 23 yeaold.

The Daily Mail say: ‘Arsenal executive Richard Law had talks with Velez Sarsfield president Fernando Raffaini in Argentina but was unwilling to pay the £11million the South American side wanted’, think of that what you will, but the 6ft 2in Argentinean who has been compared to Kaka, is most definitely a target for Arsene Wenger’s side. Reports suggest that Wenger has made him his transfer priority, identifying his height, power and versatility as key attributes that would help boost his squad, while they hunt for trophies next term.

What do you think of this one? It came out of nowhere when Goal.com reported he’d been signed, at first for free! He will now cost a reported £11m and this rumour just won’t go away. Personally I feel he will be a welcome replacement for Rosicky. Someone who can play in the midfield 3 or wide left on the front 3. However should Arsenal be looking for first team and more proven players? If you were Wenger would you have room in your squad for this guy? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
